Smallwire formed in Chicago in 2004.
Violinist, vocalist and guitarist Kristina Dutton (David Daniell, Cameron McGill, the 1900s) and guitarist Basia Bhojraj recruited Kristin Barendregt on vocals and keyboards, Jeff Grubbs on drums, and Tom Schreiner on bass and vocals (National Tryst). After playing together for two years, the quintet took a year off to record its forthcoming album (engineered by Brian Zieske and mastered by Bob Weston). Smallwire is happy to be playing live again in Chicago and is planning to tour its ass off in the near future.
